Making Sense of Discipline
Beginning January 27, 6:30pm - 9:30pm
This five session course applies the attachment-based developmental approach to the arena of discipline. Imposing order on children's behaviour is never particularly easy; imposing order on their minds is even more daunting. When the challenge is to impose order without putting in jeopardy healthy attachment and development, many are at a loss as to how to proceed. Unfortunately, today's prevailing methods of discipline are completely uninformed regarding their impact on attachment and development. This course not only provides parents and teachers with this knowledge but also equips them with a solid methodology that is not only much more effective but also much less risky than the usual fare.
Making Sense of Discipline not only answers the question of what to do when problems arise but how to do so without sacrificing a child's emotional health and sense of security for short-term gains in behaviour and performance. The ultimate objective of this course is for parents and teachers to come to the place where the answers will come from their own understanding and they possess the inner confidence to handle the small stuff as well as the more challenging issues. For more information on the course material see the Neufeld Institute Course page. For more information about Pamela's offerings, please see her website: www.pamelawhyte.ca
Course Schedule:
Three Friday evenings from 6:30 - 8:45pm, and two Saturday mornings, from 10am - 12:15. Jan 27 & 28, Feb 3, and Feb 10 & 11.
